When you look back through history you see that the world is full of strong independent women. From Cleopatra to Rosa Parks, Amelia Earhart to Nora Ephron. These women and many more have personally changed and and rewritten the course of history with their acts of independence. They have stood up in a world and faced diversity, animosity and a lot of people saying ‘you can’t do that’
Well it’s not true, you can do it, and if you put your mind to it then you will do it.
I am a single mum, I spend everyday putting my daughters needs before my own and yet I still want to be more. I am working on being myself and not hiding under the label of ‘only a mum’.
I just want to say that being strong and independent doesn’t necessarily mean changing the face of history, or making some ground breaking discovery. It means standing your ground and pushing through the storm when it feels like everything around you is falling apart.
It means going out and getting that job that you never thought you would get or that you deserved.
It means getting up, getting dressed and going on with your day when all you wanna do is lay in bed.
A strong woman is every single one of us who does something to better ourselves or better the lives of others when every voice inside your head is screaming at you to not even bother.
Every one has integrity, courage and strength, it is deep inside you, it is the small quiet voice that you barely hear and rarely listen to.
So when looking at all these women who have changed the world, stood up for themselves and all women and never looked back, just remember they started out just like me and you. They had doubts, they had worries, they had insecurities. They were like every woman out there but they pushed through that fear and vulnerability that was holding them back and they did something amazing.
YOU. CAN. DO. IT. TOO!
Sometimes all it takes is for one person to tell you they believe in you, to let you know they support you, to stand behind you or beside you and encourages you to be all you can be.
So to every woman out there that is reading this, go and do it. Go and kick ass and show everyone exactly what you’re made of.
I BELIEVE IN YOU!
